Yerusalyim you're fighting the good fight but you're wasting your breath. If they found a train load of 20 megaton warheads and another train load of Sarin, it would be something else. These guys are anti-US in general and anti-Bush in particular. Have you read Mona Charen's book about "useful idiots?" Same deal.

THEY'VE DONE IT!!!! The WBTS set a new date!
by dmouse inthe latest watchtower, dec 15th 2003, is an out and out attack on the rank and file for dropping into a drowsy state spiritually.
ok, so armageddon didn't come before the generation of 1914 grew old and died.
but does that mean that the big a isn't near?

So far this article has had zero impact on anyone I've talked to, doesn't register with them at all. I think a tempest is being generated in a tea cup by wishful thinkers here.

What's your favorite JW word or phrase?
by Sara Annie inin a minimus moment, i find myself interested in knowing which buzz-words and phrases in jw publications stand out the most to you?
when i read wt literature, i constantly find myself astounded by how transparently cultish the language is.
in an earlier, unrelated thread, i said the following: .

Apparently the Brits have run four different tests on the mortar shells and they do contain a blister agent.

The Biggest Scandal In Your Congregation
by Hunyadi ini attended a notorious congregation as a child, the infamous winter gardens congregation!
my cousin and his best friend, both named joe, were elders, my cousin was the po and the other joe was a total loser suck up who wanted to be just like my cousin, joe.
what was even funnier, as i get off point a bit, is that "suck up" joe's wife, cathy, did everything she could do to get her pudgy lil self to dress, look, walk, and talk like my cousin joe's wife, clementine.

There was the MS who took up with the Elder's wife, and when the Elder found out he took up with the MS's wife, then they swapped houses and it was real hard to tell who was living with whom. Took six months before the rest of the rather astonished elder body found out what was going on. Everyone got disfellowshipped and because half the congregation was related there was a a lot of weeping and wailing.
Then there's the PO's Pioneer daughter who likes the bottle and has been known to show up for service three sheets to the wind. On one memorable occasion while under the influence she whipped out the boobs in front of a car full of brothers and invited everyone to grab ahold. Ever since then there's been no shortage of male volunteers to work with her in service.

JWs and voting. Is it okay now?
by NikL ini know there has been lots of discussion on this issue in the past year but i have been unable to find it.
i need to know where to find the questions from readers that talked about it being okay for people to vote if their concience allows.
i brought this issue up with a couple of people, one a rank and file dub and the other an elder.

Subsequent to the QFR a letter was circulated around congregations in the US that was a whole lot more negative than the QFR. The letter said that the comments in the QFR really only applied in countries where people were required to vote, may even have included a husband requiring a wife to vote, and that Witnesses even though they might go through the process would in effect spoil their ballot when the time came to do the dirty deed. The substitue CO that handled it in my congregation made a horrible botch of the whole thing. His explanantion was so convoluted that no one could understand what he was saying but they still got the idea that they weren't supposed to do it.

If You Could've Said Something You Weren't Supposed To Say........
by minimus inat a meeting-------what would it have been?
i can imagine making a comment at the watchtower study after reading blondie's review and spouting some of her research from the publications to mess everybody up or give a public talk and say something like," as we all know, the society has blundered many, many dates in the past and given some false prophecies, too-----but that doesn't mean we should stop trusting them, now does it????

I remember with great fondness 157 suddenly indrawn breaths followed by complete silence as I proclaimed "Even Rutherford said he'd made a complete ass out of himself over 1925." I was approached by several giggling brothers after the meeting telling me someone would probably be dragging me into the back room, but no one did.

"I guess the society if going to have to come out with a rulebook/kaballah detailing exactly how to count time."
They're not about to do that, do you really think they don't know what's going on? This way they get to record inflated numbers without being responsible for the inflation.
